Blueprint Earth is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to cataloging small portions of the Earth’s environments to generate big-picture knowledge. They are collecting knowledge and information to create and develop terra-engineering projects throughout the universe. The Earth has the greatest environmental diversity known to exist in the universe, and is still the only planet on which we know there is life. Blueprint Earth’s goal is to understand the environments of this planet as fully as possible. To that end, they are making a detailed catalog of environments one square kilometer at a time. Their teams are working to preserve and enhance knowledge of our planet in these times of rapid change.
As much as we know about the important connections in our world, there is much more to learn about the ecology and interactions of environmental systems. Once Blueprint Earth has finished cataloging a microenvironment, they bring leading scientists, engineers, and systems experts to the table to identify the multitude of systems that work together in an environment. This is becomes blueprint, the foundation upon which the planet’s environments are built, aimed towards creating a solidified understanding of the planet.
Blueprint Earth’s methods will also aid humanitarian efforts to rehabilitate areas subject to damage. They can catalog and blueprint an undamaged area, providing the blueprint that can be applied to rehabilitate an area that has been damaged due to events such as natural disasters.
