BlueSkies Solutions is a GIS training and technical service based in Alaska. They offer classes to train experienced or new GIS users and help them get the most out of their GIS software. With over 17 years of experience with a variety of GIS, GPS, and remote sensing applications and tools, BlueSkies can also help clients with GIS implementations, organizational design, programming, and a variety of different aspects of spatial analysis.
BlueSkies also works in environmental management, putting their GIS experience to use through a variety of state projects. They have, for example, performed stormwater and surface runoff models using the EPA’s Stormwater Management Model, and have completed groundwater investigations to provide resource information to Alaskan communities. Additionally, they have performed wetland analyses and determinations for clients using the US Army Corps Engineer Standards.
BlueSky also aided the University of Alaska Fairbanks – Bristol Bay Campus in the development of a web-based database that features extensive mapping tools and enhance the geography-focused curriculum.
Providing people with the tools, in terms of training, and the resources to perform effective geographic analysis is a crucial part of improving geographic knowledge and achieving geospatial solutions around the country.
