SeaWeb is a not-for-profit that transforms knowledge into action by shining a spotlight on workable, science-based solutions to the most serious threats facing the ocean, such as climate change, pollution, ocean acidification, and depletion of marine life. SeaWeb envisions a world where all people act on the belief that a healthy ocean is vital to human life and essential to a sustainable future.
SeaWeb uses a different approach than many. They conduct interviews and opinion surveys to gain insight into human perceptions, behavior, and level of knowledge about marine issues. They use this information plus science to effectively raise awareness of critical issues. They then dissolve boundaries and broker constructive dialogue among stakeholders to forge strong ocean policies and innovative market solutions to ocean threats.
SeaWeb builds communications capacity, promotes market-based and policy solutions, shares knowledge and issue expertise, establishes and executes emblematic media campaigns, and amplifies leading voices. Through all of their work, SeaWeb is helping raise awareness and make change to help protect on our most valuable resources on the planet, our ocean. There are critical processes in the ocean that help power life, and when those processes are impacted by warming and acidification, they affect the rest of the world as well.
