Shared Earth: Connecting landowners with gardeners and farmers

Shared Earth

Shared Earth is a company that aims to connect landowners with gardeners or farmers. There are many people who want to have a garden but don’t have the space, and people who have the space for a garden but are not using it. They are helping coordinate people to make better use of the planet.

Shared Earth has calculated that there are 4.5 million acres of unproductive backyard space across the US. On the website when you log in, you can say whether you have land or you are looking for land. Then you can see the areas around you, and if you find a plot that seems good for you, you can personally message the landowner.

By sharing land with others, gardening communities are made, and fresh food is eaten. Small agriculture is the solution to many of today’s problems. Sharing land encourages gardening and brings local food to people who would not otherwise have the opportunity to grow their own food.
