Suburban Testing Labs is a water monitoring company that was founded in 1963, when water-testing labs were still rare as clean drinking water was abundant. However, in the 1970s individuals who owned private water supplies started realizing the need for water quality testing of their resource. Awareness rose about the potential for bacterial contaminants and harmful chemicals, and the Environmental Protection Agency mandated testing standards for public water systems, so private water supply owners became increasingly conscious about having their water tested, and Suburban Testing Labs has provided these crucial services.
They perform microbiology tests drinking water, wastewater, pools and bio-solids for a variety of bacteria, including Fecal Coliform, Salmonella, and E. Coli. They can also test for synthetic organic contaminants, pesticides, herbicides, PCBs, and semi-volatile compounds using organic chemistry techniques such as gas chromatography systems.
In addition to testing for contaminants in private homes and water supplies, Suburban Living Labs provides its services to community sites, such as public pools, landfills, and groundwater. Ensuring access to clean water is crucial in our industrial modern age, and water quality services will only continue to be of importance in the coming years.
