Map of the Week: Geo-Politics in the 2016 Election: Ted Cruz and the Evangelical Vote

Ted Cruz’s recent victory in  the Iowa caucus is considered by many to be largely due to Evangelical support in the state.  An article by the Washington Post states that one in every three Evangelical voters supported Cruz in the Iowa caucuses.

Based on religious data from the Pew Research Center, we created a map showing the percentage of adults in each state who identify as Evangelical Protestants.  This map helps us to visualize the way in which religious affiliation could affect the upcoming election.
