The Florida Department of Environmental Protection  created the Florida Forever program in July 2001. Since this program’s inception, it is responsible for purchasing more than 718, 126 acres of  protected land for about 2.9 billions dollars. The map shows Florida’s protected lands that  are managed and conserved for environmental and recreational purposes. AGS will be hosting its Geography 2050: Envisioning A Sustainable Planet symposium on November 17th & 18th at Columbia University. This map is created to connect with the theme of the upcoming symposium.
