Map of the Week: Antique Atlas with Trade Winds

The atlas above is known as “A New Map of The Whole World with Trade Winds“. The cartographer for this map is Hermann Moll (1654 ca -1732 ca). A major feature of this antique atlas is the fact that it includes information about trade winds, which would be important to 17th-18th century sailors and explorers. Typically maps from antiquity tend to include drawings on them. This map depicts  interactions between Europeans and indigenous people of the Americas. What do you think the cartographer is suggesting with the pictorials include with this map?
