Map of the Week: World Environment Day

June 5th is the UN’s  World Environment Day. The day is to promote world-wide awareness and action for the planet. This year’s theme is:

Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care.

In honor of this day we made a map showing the amount of solid waste that is created per person in one year for each state of the US. Many people have no concept of how much trash goes into the landfill each year, and with this map we hope to spread the knowledge.

Below the map of solid waste, we have a map of energy, food, and water is consumed per capita throughout the world.
