With a keen interest in technology and innovation, AGS Council member Jared Novick has set the benchmark for not only facilitating new knowledge about the world around us, but for outer space as well.
A self-confessed “tinkerer” with a math and physics background, Jared put the skills and knowledge he developed throughout his studies and his “DIY” work ethic to great use. With a passion for technology, an eye for design, and fortitude to succeed, Jared was able to formulate and create advanced camera and sensor equipment immediately when he graduated from the University of Florida in 2005.
Since then, Jared has further developed this technology, including creating transition systems to space applications, risk reduction sensors and geospatial technologies. His company Curved Skies (http://curvedskies.com/) is well-known throughout the aerospace industry for its contribution to scientific and technological development, focusing on high altitude technologies and communication solutions. The company also supports interagency government projects, acting as a niche provider for sensitive support services on interagency government high altitude technologies. Jared’s hard work, determination and successes have been recognized by NASA, and as a result, Jared now works alongside NASA astronauts and engineers to develop and advance aerospace technology. Within this role, Jared is able to “wear the suit”, and witness first-hand how the technology facilitates increased learning of our world and outer space.
Jared has also recently set up a not-for-profit organization to enable other hobbyists with a chance to engage, develop, and create their own original ideas that can help to learn about the world. The organization, GeoMakers (http://geomakers.org/), aims to provide innovative young people who are curious about the world an opportunity to build a device, construct a technology, or develop a dream inexpensively with the support, tools, and guidance of GeoMakers. The company provides young inventors from kindergarten through grade 12 with a platform to showcase their ideas by supplying the tools needed allowing them to be completely original and free from the pressures of costs and resources. The online tool focuses on life-long learning, which can provide a solid STEM base in which to grown and expand. The data and finished products can then be shared worldwide where they can be utilized across the globe.
At AGS we are extremely proud of the contributions Jared has made to aerospace advancements and to the advancements in knowledge about our physical world. Another benefit of Jared’s creation of GeoMakers is that it enabling young inventors and tinkerers worldwide to develop their ideas. With a vision, drive to achieve, and passion to move forward Jared Novick is an inspiration to young people today showing that if you really believe and work at it, you can invent, develop, and create!
