Welcome, 2023 Summer Interns!

The Scholar-Interns of Summer ’23 have been hard at work for the last few weeks, learning the ins and outs of keeping the AGS machine humming, developing and distributing social media and blog content, and all-around doing a great job living the life of advancing the science and practice of geography!

Aaron Eben is a rising sophomore Geography and Policy Studies major at Syracuse University. He is currently engaged in professor sponsored Smart cities and urban policy research. He has worked for the City of Stamford, CT, Traffic and Transportation department and is looking forward to interning with the American Geographical Society this summer.

Sara Ryan joins us from Dublin, Ireland. “Hi, my name is Sara! As a Geography and Geosciences student at Trinity College, Dublin, my main interests include urban geography, GIS, natural/man made hazards and of course all things sustainability-related. My chatty Irish nature means I love to talk with others and learn more about their experiences of the world. I’m super excited to combine my interests with the skills I’ve learned from my degree and work alongside the AGS team!”

We’re also happy to welcome back Katie Anderson, who is with AGS for her third term. Katie just graduated from the University of Richmond with a B.A. in Geography and Anthropology. She will be starting a M.S. in Geography at the University of Florida starting in the fall, focusing on sustainability and land cover usage in the Ecuadorian Amazon. Outside of her research area, she loves combining her love of cartography with pop culture references and Dungeons & Dragons. Katie looks forward to continuing her work with AGS making geography an inclusive and accessible discipline for all.

AGS is accepting applications NOW for internship slots in Fall 2023 and Winter 2024. Click here for more information.
